The joy has gone out of hunting for the time being as a result of Hurricane Florence. Not because of any flooding or wind damage but because of the horrendous mosquito infestation which resulted from all the rain we had. Thank goodness for thermacells without which you could not stay in the woods. However, thermacells do little to protect you while going in to your stand or returning from it. It’s during that time that the mosquitos will attack! Folks this is a problem that won’t go away anytime soon. Get used to it! Later…

Man, just as I’m finally beginning to see some decent bucks, at least on trail camera, we have to contend with hurricane Florence. Although it looks like we may not get the high winds originally forecast it looks like we may get a LOT of rain, and that can be just as devastating. The flood of 2015 basically ruined the season and I sure hope we don’t see a repeat of that. The one thing we have going for us is the fact that we are very dry right now and can handle a lot of water. I’m praying we miss the worst!! Later…

As Bruce Buffer ( UFC Announcer ) would say, ” Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit’s Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiime”!!! Bow season opens in just two weeks- Wow! You better have your stands up and have started some limited feeding if you want to see what’s out there. I’ve got a couple of decent bucks on camera so far but I’m expecting, or at least I’m hoping for, more to show up this week. Man, if this year will be just half as good as last year I’ll be happy. Stay tuned…….

Well, this turkey season has been interesting to say the least. Can’t remember when I’ve seen so many long beards. I tagged out on March 30th but could have earlier ( still can’t believe we have a reduced bag limit and a longer season- SOMEBODY PLEASE!! ). I’ve been in the guide mode ever since and have been a part of several other successful hunts. It’s really been a lot of fun which you can easily see by checking out the “Thunder Chickens” video gallery. We’re still chasin ’em! Hope your season has been great as well. Later…
