Another season is in the books- one that began so promising and then fizzled after Mother Nature decided to unleash her fury on us. Everything changed after the flood, at least for me. I killed three really good bucks by mid September but after the flood nothing but a couple of does, although I did have one close encounter ( split brow ). I had to go to Kentucky to kill my fourth buck of the season. As the old ball coach used to say, it is what it is. I’m just glad it’s over. Looking forward to turkey season which, by the way, opens early this year but with a smaller bag limit. Go figure!!

The season is winding down fast, BUT not over yet. I hunted three days in Kentucky at Riverbend Whitetails the 10th through the 12th. The weather was less than ideal but the hunting was good nonetheless. I had several good encounters and killed and eight pointer on the last morning. I’ve loaded a number of videos from the trip on the website. Check ’em out. Looks like the weather is going to be wet and unusually warm for the rest of the season but I’ll be busy hunting the split-brow buck. Stay tuned….

Wow! Just when you think the hunting is over, it’s not over until the sun goes down on the last day. I should have learned that from last year. I had an outstanding sit yesterday afternoon. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, a video is worth ten thousand! Check out the video. It tells the story completely. Later…

I don’t know about you but my hunting has been slow, especially since the flood. We have never really recovered from all the high water. Every time we get a rain now everything gets messy again. Don’t think that will change for the rest of this season. I did kill a couple of does over Thanksgiving and I’m still getting some pictures of shooter bucks but mainly at night. I’m heading back to Kentucky this week for a change of scenery. The weather is going to be unseasonably warm but at least it will be drier. Stay tuned for an update when I return. Later…
