Wow, wow, wow, what a 2 days of hunting this has been. Best opening days I can ever remember. Killed a great velvet 10 pt opening day and came within seconds of getting a shot on another great buck on day 2. Check out the videos. They can tell the story much better than I can. Later…

Can’t believe we’re on the eve of bow season. Man is it hot! Was hoping for a little cooler weather, at least in the morning, but it looks like we won’t get it. Nevertheless I’m pretty pumped. I’m getting the best preseason trail cam pictures I’ve seen in years ( see Trail Cam- 2017 gallery )- some really good bucks. I’ll show up. Hope they do too!! Later…

Hard to believe bow season opens in less than a week. I just got my last stand up Saturday ( I got delayed a couple of weeks due to hand injury ). I’m on the mend now and can shoot my bow fine. I’m getting some good bucks on trail cam ( check out the 2017 trail cam gallery ). All we need now is some cooler AND DRYER weather. I hope to have one on the ground next week! Later…

This is officially the “lull”. Nothing much to do unless, of course, you like fishing, which I do. A friend and I went in Black River yesterday morning and filled our cooler even though the river is a little muddy and a foot too high. Fun morning!! Other than an occasional fishing trip all there is to do is deal with the heat and humidity. I should have started putting stands up a couple of weeks ago when it was pleasant but, as usual, I didn’t. Turkey season was good- no problem tagging out, especially with the three bird limit this year. Still don’t get it! Here’s hoping we will miss the big weather event this fall. Later…
